Date: 27 July 2023 Artificial Intelligence Robot That Provides 'Safe Logistics' in Factories is in TEKNOFEST Finals The load-carrying robot, which is designed with artificial intelligence to minimise human-induced errors encountered in factories and to provide safe logistics, has been selected as a finalist in TEKNOFEST Aerospace and Technology Festival, Digital Technologies in Industry Competition. The Aerospace and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) is being held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport again this year under the auspices of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology. At TEKNOFEST, where competitions were held in 102 different categories, the finalists of the "Digital Technologies in Industry Competition" have been determined. Doğuş University ROBODOU Technology Team has made its name among the finalists with their load-carrying robot RB-ANT 5.0. SAFETY IN LOGISTICS WILL BE ENSURED VIA GAS, FIRE AND OBSTACLE SENSORS Developed by students to transport certain loads on assigned paths in factories and warehouses, the load-carrying vehicle has been designed to minimise human-induced errors encountered in heavy industry. According to the data it obtains through QR and line tracking, the robot, which can transport products from point A to point B completely autonomously, also provides safe transport with gas, fire and obstacle sensors The ROBODOU Technology Team, consulted by İbrahim Evkay, lecturer, and captained by Emircan Kömürcü, a senior mechanical engineering student, used the following statements in their message: "The robot is built to carry certain loads on assigned paths in factories and warehouses. Capable of moving completely autonomously thanks to its own software, the robot detects obstacles using its artificial intelligence algorithm and circuitry and completes its tasks by moving around them. Gas and temperature sensors are available for the safety of the robot, and in case of possible fire or toxic gas, the artificial intelligence algorithm informs the employees around it and the command centre through warning systems. ROBODU Technology Team is proud of the success of RB-ANT 5.0 and is delighted to be a finalist at TEKNOFEST. Such technological developments contribute to the digital transformation of the industry and support the technological progress of our country." "WE AIM TO INCREASE THE USE OF THE ROBOT" Stating that this technology has started to be used in many factories with the arrival of Industry 4.0 in Turkey, though not widely, Emircan Kömürcü said, "We have produced a robot at a level to be used in factories. The robot's load carrying capacity can be increased by strengthening only the engines without changing the software and electronic components. In other words, we can make the function of the robot suitable for all factories. At the same time, we are considering another project, which is still at the idea stage, to increase the widespread use of the robot. We have the idea of a fleet initiative to popularise this technology in Turkey. We think that the product can be rented to factories." Explaining the technical features of the robot, Kömürcü said: "There is a camera in front of the robot. With this camera, the robot keeps track the lines that need to be used in factories. There is also a 'leading camera'. This camera maps the area by detecting the obstacles around in 360 degrees and can escape from obstacles. There is also a QR reader, which helps the robot to obtain data. In other words, we use QR to teach the robot which product to leave where. The robot applies this knowledge and ensures safe logistics within the factory."
