Date: 12 May 2025 Istanbul Beykent University organised ‘Designing the Future with Artificial Intelligence’ event Istanbul Beykent University hosted an important event. The event titled ‘Designing the Future with Artificial Intelligence’, organised in collaboration with Istanbul Beykent University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Gazi University, was held on 9 May 2025. The event, attended by Dr. Erkan Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Volkan Öngel, Rector of Istanbul Beykent University. The programme continued with addresses by Prof. Dr. Bahaddin Sinsoysal, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and Prof. Dr. Şeref Sarıoğlu, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Engineering at Gazi University. The future is being reshaped by artificial intelligence. Delivering the opening speech of the event, Istanbul Beykent University Rector Prof. Dr. Volkan Öngel highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in social transformation and stated the following: “Artificial intelligence is no longer merely a technological tool; it has become a force that is reshaping society, the workforce, and the way we think about the future. This transformation has made it necessary to change the vision of universities and develop innovative approaches. As Istanbul Beykent University, we will continue to be at the centre of this transformation and prepare our students for the world of the future. In this regard, we will continue to educate our students to meet the needs of not only today but also the future, through academic content that adapts to the dynamics of the age, sector-integrated education models, and international collaborations.” Interdisciplinary approach at the forefront Referring to the interdisciplinary impact of artificial intelligence, Prof. Dr. Bahaddin Sinsoysal, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, stated the following in his speech: “Artificial intelligence is driving a comprehensive transformation that influences a wide range of disciplines in today’s world. This change is not only limited to technical fields, but also reshapes the social structure. Artificial intelligence is transforming not only the field of engineering, but every aspect of life. As universities, we have a responsibility to lead this transformation and to develop educational models that address the needs of the age both academically and across sectors. Our faculty supports interdisciplinary projects in this regard and focuses on educating our students with both technical competence and ethical awareness.” The Designing the Future with Artificial Intelligence event, which brought together leading academics and experts from Türkiye, provided a comprehensive platform for exploring the applications, development, and evolution of artificial intelligence. As part of the event, the development, evaluation, and management processes of artificial intelligence-themed projects were discussed within the framework of Horizon Europe, the European Union’s research and innovation programme. At the event, which featured sessions on various topics such as Opportunities and Threats in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence in New Generation Speech Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence in Journalism, valuable insights were shared on the effects, significance, and applications of artificial intelligence in the business world. The event, comprising three sessions and offering a comprehensive exploration of the field, enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence technology, recognise its potential, and gain insight into the development processes of related projects.
