The ‘Endemic Design’ exhibition, organised by the Department of Textile and Fashion Design of our University, has been opened to visitors.

The exhibition held by the students of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design, Istanbul Beykent University Faculty of Fine Arts, was opened on 10 June 2025 at the Sarıyer Municipality Service Building.

The exhibition ‘Endemic Design: Fashion Collections Inspired by Entities on the Brink of Extinction’, organised by the students of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design as part of their 2024–2025 Academic Year graduation project, was opened to visitors on 10 June 2025 at the Sarıyer Municipality Service Building.

In addition to officials from Sarıyer Municipality, the opening of the exhibition was attended by the exhibition coordinators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Atalay Onur and Asst. Prof. Dr. Alev Çırpıcı, students of the department, as well as Prof. Dr. Hamdi Ünal, Dean of Istanbul Beykent University Faculty of Fine Arts, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Atar, Vice-Dean.

The exhibition, featuring garments, accessories, and print designs inspired by endemic species and natural formations specific to Türkiye and the Mediterranean Basin that are under threat of extinction due to the climate crisis and human impact, aimed to raise visitor awareness of this critical issue. By employing upcycling and circular design methods to creatively transform waste materials, the students developed a sustainable fashion vision.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Atalay Onur stated, ‘This exhibition is not only an aesthetic presentation, but also a powerful call that unites ecological awareness, social sensitivity, and sustainable design. Our young prospective designers aimed to make their voices heard against the extinction of non-human beings through their circularity-centred designs.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors in the exhibition area of the Sarıyer Municipality Service Building until Friday, 13 June 2025.
